Don’t you just hate it when they do that?

Late yesterday evening, after weeks of finalizing my shopping list at drugstore.com, I finally placed my order for a few products.  Three of the items I ordered were from the Yes to Carrots range.  I was curious to try out this brand and since drugstore.com had a promotion, I figured I might as well take advantage of it.

Then just today, when I logged into my drugstore.com account to check the status of my order, I almost fell off my chair when I discovered that they now had a Big BOGO Bonanza promotion and one of the items on promotion was the Yes to Carrots eye contour cream, which incidentally was one of the items I had ordered.

The eye cream (pictured above) is now on a Buy 1 Free 1 promotion till March 13 2009!  I simply could NOT believe my eyes!  It wasn’t even a Buy 1 get another for 50% off promo!  Dang!

So I did what any shopper in my kiasu position would have done.  I just sent a mail to the customer service folks to ask if they would so kindly add another one of the eye cream to my order free of charge.  After all, they ought to reward me for placing the order a good ONE day earlier, right?  Whatever happened to the adage “The early bird gets the worm”?

I am waiting with bated breath to see if they would oblige.

La Senza’s Biggest Sale Ever (especially for Citibank cardmembers)

Earlier this week, I received an email from La Senza promoting their biggest sale ever.

I thought nothing of it, because I obviously would not be able to check out the sale items, La Senza being in Malaysia, and I am in the States.  But I figured I would not miss much because the sale at La Senza comes and goes throughout the year.

Then today, I received another mail, this time from Citibank…promoting that all Citibank cardmembers would enjoy an additional 10% off on all La Senza sale items!  Never before have I experienced that before, so this is a first time.

…and now I am bummed that I’m gonna miss it.  SIGH.

I’m gonna miss the Sale at Mothercare this time

…but don’t miss out on it if you have the chance!

Back in Malaysia, I used to make a list of the stuff I wanted to get from Mothercare during their sale periods, and I would then make it a point to go during the 2-day special.  It’s thoroughly worth it, because there is an additional 5% off on your total purchases.

Of course, then I would tend to spend more, because I kept telling myself not too let the opportunity go.  LOL

It’s also a terrific chance for first-time parents to check out the infant car seats in anticipation of their new babies to come.  With the 10% discount, now is never a better time to get a car seat in the name of safety.

Check the Mothercare Store Locator for the location of your nearest store today.

I need a new bag!

… because who doesn’t, right?  Heh.

Guys would probably never understand why we women need so many bags, and yet complain that we never have enough.

Well, I am certainly overjoyed that my good friend who runs the awesome site My Women Stuff is celebrating the 2nd birthday of her site, and with that, I am even more overjoyed to learn that there are goodies in store!  What better way to kick off the celebrations than to give away a bag to TWO lucky readers

I am perpetually ALWAYS shopping for bags, so for this giveaway, I definitely want in on the action!

When I visited the sponsor’s site, AliceWonders.com, I was bowled over by the various choices that were presented to me.  It wasn’t fair that I was only allowed ONE selection of a bag!  Hmmphh!

But after several clicks here and there and everywhere, I decided on the bag of my choice.  It’s the Brown Boston Bag inspired by Marc Jacobs’ Spring 2009 collection and I know I want it because it looks chic and sophisticated, yet it can definitely double up as a baby bag because of its size and many compartments!  Caring for a baby doesn’t mean I can take a step back in style, ya know…

And besides, I’d never have a chance to own an original Marc Jacobs bag anyhow… LOL

Review: Eve Organics products and a Giveaway!

I recently received a lovely little sample package from Eve Organics, comprising the following products:

All three samples were very much what I needed at this time because the weather is really dry and cold now.  And besides, I was never one to pass on trying organic products.

The first thing that came to my mind when I opened up the package was just how professional the samples looked.  You know how some samples are just carelessly packed into unidentifiable containers?  Well, the samples that I received from Eve Organics were nicely sealed and looked like they just came off the shelves.  I was impressed.

 Peppermint Lip Balm

I immediately unwrapped the seal of the Peppermint Lip Balm, and tried it on my lips.  I, for one, suffer from extremely dry and chapped lips, and whilst my lips could heal with time back in Malaysia, I find the use of lip balm indispensable here in the States.

The Eve Organics lip balm of course had a minty taste to it.  It had a cooling effect, which at first was rather strong for me, but I loved the silky smooth feeling on my lips afterward.  I noticed that the lip balm had a glossy effect too, which makes it good enough to double up as a lip gloss.  What I liked was that the lip balm did not clump up as some lip balms do, but it glided on smoothly on my lips.  And hours after application, when I cleansed my face, I was thrilled to note that my lips still felt VERY moisturized.  Perhaps it is due to the organic aloe vera juice contained in the lip balm :)

I slathered the lip balm again before I went to sleep, and awoke this morning with lips that were truly smooth!  I love it!

The Peppermint Lip Balm retails for USD4.95.

Fortifying Eye Repair Creme

Coincidentally, I had run out of my eye cream, so getting this sample was a blessing in disguise.  The Fortifying Eye Repair Creme sample was packed in a small tub, containing white cream.  I took a whiff of it when I opened the tub, and it did not contain a single hint of perfume.   Great for those who can’t stand strong smells.

I was afraid the cream might be a tad too heavy for the eye area, but when I applied a little of the cream with my pinky, I was surprised at how light it felt!  Also, there wasn’t a single tinge of stinging sensation!  I normally get a little stinging sensation when I try on a new eye cream, because of the sensitive area around the eyes, but I was pleased to note that this was excellent!  It doesn’t make any difference to the dark circles under the eyes though, but the moisturizing effect is truly wonderful.

The skin around my eyes felt really hydrated after using this cream; not greasy but moisturized.  The description of the Fortifying Eye Repair Creme states that it can be used as a makeup remover too, but I feel that would be too wasteful! LOL

The Fortifying Eye Repair Creme retails at USD29.95 for a tub of 2 fl oz, which I find is very reasonable, given that most eye creams in the market are sold in tubs or tubes of 0.5 fl oz each.  However, for that quantity of eye cream, I think it would be a good idea to package it in a tube or pump bottle, just for the sake of hygiene.

Quantum Quencher Facial Moisturizer for Dry/Mature Skin (Renewal)

Well, the first thing that caught my eye when I studied the bottle of the Quantum Quencher Facial Moisturizer for Dry/Mature Skin (Renewal) was that it clearly states that this product has 89% organic content.  I thought that was odd, and when I inquired further from Eve Organics, I was informed that the reason the products are not 100% organic is because some of the ingredients contained therein cannot be categorized as organic (e.g.: water, Vitamin E, neem, salts, etc.)  Having signed the truth in labeling pledge, Eve Organics has vowed to be completely transparent in ingredient labeling.

The Quantum Quencher Facial Moisturizer for Dry/Mature Skin (Renewal) comes in a pump bottle and has a creamy texture to it.  When I applied the moisturizer on my face, I could immediately smell a strong flowery scent…something like jasmine.  It was a good thing I am way past my first trimester’s adversity to strong smells, for this would have caught me completely offguard.

Good thing the smell didn’t linger too long and it dissipated as soon as the moisturizer absorbed into the skin, which was quite fast too!  I am very liberal in applying moisturizers in my neck area, and I was pleased with the softening, hydrating effect it gave.

After application, my skin felt smooth and plumped up, and even after a whole night’s sleep, my face still felt very moisturized!  It did not feel greasy at all, which is what I like.  And believe it or not, I could see that my pores are much tighter now!  Hurrah!

An excerpt from the Eve Organics site regarding the moisturizer reads:

Eve Organics moisturizers are jam packed with natural free radical busters, such as Vitamins A, C and E, red Rooibos tea from South Africa, white and green tea.  Red Rooibos tea contains an enzyme called Sodium Oxide Dismutase (or S.O.D.), which kills free radicals and renews the skin’s ability to fight off destruction.   Quantum Quencher Moisturizer – Renewal – used daily, along with the rest of the Renewal product line, supports a more youthful appearance.

This monumental moisturizing lotion has quantum qualities.  Aloe & South African Rooibos Tea soothe skin with anti-inflammatory properties and antioxidants.  Naturally derived MSM feeds the formation of collagen and helps eliminate brown spots and wrinkles.  Naturally derived DMAE protects cell walls from free radicals and is known to tighten pores and reduce visible signs of aging.  With daily use, a cumulative skin tightening effect will be noticeable.  Expertly blended therapeutic grade essential oils support cell turnover and youth.

Active Ingredients
Organic Jojoba
Organic Coconut and Avocado Oils
Naturally Derived DMAE and MSM
Therapeutic Grade Essential Oils and Absolutes of Rose, Jasmine, Sandalwood, Frankincense and Carrot Seed

The moisturizer retails at USD20.50 for the full-sized 2 fl oz bottle and USD10.95 for the Try Me size of 1 fl oz.  I only gave it half a star less because I would have preferred it scent-free, but I guess that can’t be helped because of the presence of jasmine in the ingredients.
