Review: Madara Regenerating Night Cream & a Giveaway!

When I won a month’s worth of Madara Regenerating Night Cream, I was very eager to try it out…more so because it was organic more than anything else.  My regular night cream product is Estee Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair, or what most people call “magic in a little brown bottle”, and I was not sure if I had wanted anything else to replace it, since it was working very well for me.

Still, I am always game to try something new…

Well, I’m glad I gave Madara Regenerating Night Cream a try.  Not only did I like it tremendously, I did feel as if the Madara Regenerating Night Cream worked just as well as the little brown bottle did!

The Madara Regenerating Night Cream was not too heavy, yet provided enough moisture to LOCK into your skin, so that my face felt rejuvenated after just one night’s application.  There is a certain floral scent to this cream, but it kind of fades away after a few minutes.  I like it that the scent was not too overpowering.  And if someone like me, who cannot stand stuff with scents is okay with this one, then everyone should be fine with it. :)

The Madara Regenerating Night Cream is packed in a sleek chic bottle, with a pump and plastic cover, so it preserves the contents after repeated usage.  The downside of this is of course, I could not tell how much of the night cream was left, apart from feeling it getting lighter and lighter in my hand.

According to the product description, this cream speeds up cell renewal and prevents the skin aging process.  I did feel as if my skin had been given that extra boost of renewal after several applications, and that’s always a good sign.  I guess it must have been the combination of all the natural ingredients in the bottle that did the work.  This night cream contains tomatoes, barley sprouts and seaweed, among other ingredients, and also includes hyaluronic acid which is a water-binding ingredient.

I use just a little bit (a little more than a pea size on the entire face), and I suppose this cream could be used on its own, after applying your usual toner, but I used it under my normal moisturizer too.  My skin is a tad dehydrated, and because I sleep in an air-conditioned room, I like to infuse extra moisture in it.

All in all, I feel the Madara Regenerating Night Cream does its job wonderfully!  It repairs all the damage caused by stress and the harsh environment, and hydrates with plant vitamins and antioxidants.  An extra plus point is that this cream is organically certified. :)   Some skincare products contain the caveat to “Keep out of reach of children”, but this cream did not, which I found rather comforting because it meant that I could apply the cream all over my face and neck and not worry a single bit when my kids kiss me goodnight. :)

So…what’s the damage, you ask?

Surprisingly though, the Madara Regenerating Night Cream is reasonably priced at RM148 for a 50ml bottle and can be purchased online from Bodybar Skincare.  Comparing it to the Estee Lauder Advanced Night Repair which costs at least RM200 for the same amount, I’d say the Madara Regenerating Night Cream is an absolute steal!

My wish is for Madara to develop a coordinating eye cream that does the same thing the Madara Regenerating Night Cream does too.  I am apprehensive about applying the Madara Regenerating Night Cream around my eye area, because its richness might be too much for the delicate skin around the eye area.

Would I buy this night cream again?  Most definitely YES!  And I am very happy I found it.

Now, how would YOU like to experience this wonderful Madara Regenerating Night Cream?

My Postpartum Lunapads Experience (and a Giveaway too!)

Lunapads International is a women-owned small business based in Vancouver, Canada.  This company prides itself in creating products for women, especially for use in their menstrual cycles, that help promote a healthier lifestyle as well as making the earth a greener place to be in.  Lunapads offers a diverse selection of products designed to meet the unique needs of women of all ages.

Prior to giving birth to my second child, I had tried Lunapads in the Maxi size, but was not totally in love with it.  I wanted the Maxi to be longer but it was not.  So when I had the opportunity to try the Heavy Lunapads especially suited for postpartum use and heavy flow days, I was excited.

I only had two Heavy Lunapads, and of course they weren’t enough to sustain the whole of my postpartum period, so I used them interchangeably with the rest of my cloth pads, but you know what?  The heavy Lunapads were by far my favorites.  They were wide enough and long enough.  The pads are made from 2 layers of 100% cotton flannel based topped with a central pad made with 1 layer of ultra-thin nylon and 2 layers of 100% cotton fleece, plus ric-rac bands to hold the liners for added absorbency.  They also come with sewn-on 3 snap plastic fasteners.

I also love the vibrant colors they came in, and no, they did not stain at all!  Because I chose not to soak the pads, I washed and rinsed them immediately when I changed a new pad.  I used just warm water, and then I would throw the rinsed pads into the washer and dryer.

I admit I used the disposable maternity pads earlier on for a week or so, but after I ran out, I was on cloth pads all the time.  So much more comfortable and it feels great to do my bit for the environment!

Using Lunapads as postpartum pads is definitely the gentle way to go if you have had an episiotomy.  I didn’t, but I would imagine using natural materials such as those on the Lunapad would be better than subjecting the episiotomy wound to harsh chemicals from dispoable pads.

Initially I was worried that I would find it a hassle to use cloth pads after delivery, but it does not take up much time at all.  As I mentioned earlier, I simply wash and rinse them with water, and then toss them into the washer.  Takes me just a minute or so before I shower.

The Heavy Lunapads can be folded and snapped shut for storage especially when it is soiled and you don’t have immediate facilities to rinse it out, but because it was quite large, I found it hard to button up.  I didn’t have to use this button feature at all though, but it would be good to make the wings a little longer for easy buttoning.

All in all, I am glad to have had the opportunity to experience the Lunapads myself, and would recommend it to any woman who want to feel healthier.  Use them for your menstrual periods or try them out postpartum if you are about to deliver a baby soon.  Hey, so many people who have tried them can’t be wrong, right?

Lunapads can be purchased online from the Lunapads site or from any of the other locations worldwide.

Now how would you like to win some Lunapads for yourself?  Whether you are just starting out on your cloth pads collection, or if you’d like to add some to your existing stash, you know Lunapads will certainly be a welcome addition!
