Bravado! Designs preorder sale!

Becoming pregnant has opened up a whole new world of shopping possibilities for me.  Although this is my second time expecting, I still find myself tempted to purchase a few more items to supplement what I already own.  Besides indulging in a few pieces of fashionable maternity wear, I was recently informed that Tiny Tapir is currently having a preorder sale for Bravado! designs nursing lingerie.

If you don’t already know, I am a firm believer of providing the best for baby right from birth, and breastfeeding is certainly the way to go.  For me, I am definitely not content with wearing frumpy nursing bras which offer close to no support.  I am very particular about comfort too, when it comes to breastfeeding.  I have heard so much about Bravado bras that I am very excited about this sale that Tiny Tapir is organizing right now.  To me, investing in a few good quality nursing bras and tops will take you a long way in your breastfeeding journey, and so, I am jumping at this opportunity to accentuate my breastfeeding wardrobe.

Best of all, the preorder sale comes with a discount of 10% from the recommended retail price, which works out to be cheaper than if we were to purchase it directly from the States.  The presale ends in 2 days’ time, i.e. September 18 2008, so don’t waste time thinking about it!

Trust me, you will never regret investing in a good nursing bra.

Silver is the key

I have always had a penchant for silver jewellery. Somehow, silver appeals more to me than yellow gold. Of course, I prefer white gold and platinum any day, but that’s another story altogether.

Anyway, I am currently in an accesorizing mood, and given the fact that we ought to be thrifty whenever possible, I’d go silver in a heartbeat. Besides, just looking at the pretty Silver Jewellery at Key Silver is enough to make me drool.

I adore intricate pieces of jewellery, which are not loud, but yet convey a message of charm and sophistication, and I found tons of these at Key Silver. I was immediately taken by this charming bangle with a pink stone. Pink is not exactly my color of choice, but there was something about this bangle that made me take a second glance. It was girly and yet mysterious in a way. I would so love it if there were other stone colors available for this bangle too though.

There were also plenty of bracelets and pendants that caught my eye, but since I prefer the latter, I headed straight for the Silver Pendants section, where I found this gorgeous black spinel heart pendant. In fact, if you own one of those plain Silver Bracelets, this pendant can also be converted into a bracelet, but just attaching the pendant to it. So that’s more mileage for your pendant.

I look forward to seeing a more varied selection of silver jewellery on Key Silver in the near future. I know that they deliver free of charge within UK, but it would also be good if the site could provide more information about worldwide ordering and shipping.

Got the style? Flaunt it!

Okay, folks….see, this is what I have been up to:

No no…contrary to what you are thinking, I was not dressed like that over the weekend, although Sunday night saw me dressed in an LBD!

Anyway, today, I logged in to Polyvore.com and created my first ensemble, which I, for want of a better name, called it Hot Momma. Actually, this is pretty addictive, I’d say. Remember those days when you were a little girl playing with paper cutouts of dolls and dresses? Well, this is just like it, except it’s all done online. Simply mix and match and fantasize yourself wearing those clothes….

Even more awesome is that creating an ensemble like that would entitle you to a contest entry brought to you by Tongue in Chic and Urbanscapes.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I am itching to create another ensemble…. care to join me?

I walked in and I walked out happy as a lark

A couple of days ago, I did lunch with a gal pal of mine and after lunch, we did what most women would do after food.

We went shopping!  Of course, it helped that we had lunch in the mall in the first place

My friend highly recommends shoes from Walk In, as she attests that they are reasonably priced and yet are durable.  I have been into Walk In many times before, and I have never bought anything.  But this time, I walked out of Walk In with this:

Oh, by the way, I just threw away at least 3 pairs of my old shoes, so I would have space to accomodate these…

A pair of pointy-toed slide-ons, which my friend claims is hardy enough to withstand running around in whilst chasing a toddler, despite the 3-inch heels.  This pair is surprisingly comfy and because of the additional strap buckle across the foot, the grip is sturdy and I didn’t feel like it was slipping off.  It has been ages since I bought myself a pair of pointy-toed shoes, but this maroony-brownish pair was too comfy to resist.

A pair of pretty dainty shoes, just because I felt like a princess when I wore them.  I just adore the flower detail too, and since I didn’t have a pair like that, indulge I did.

Lastly, a pair of ankle-length boots, with foldable cuffs.  This allowed me to change the look as and when necessary.  I don’t quite dig the ribbons used to lace those boots up though, so I’ll probably look for alternative replacements soon.  These boots are made of velvety material, and I was taken by how good they looked with my black leggings, which I was coincidentally wearing the other day.

And just in case you were wondering, nope, I have not gone bonkers and spent a fortune in view of tough times ahead.  But wait till I tell you about the sweet deal I got on these shoes.

Walk In had a Buy 1 Free 1 promotion for selected shoes, and of course, my selection was from these.  However, unlike other Buy 1 Free 1 deals where the customer is charged for the more expensive item of the two, the sales personnel told me that the promo in Walk In worked in a way where the total amount charged would be 50% off the total bill!  That’s not all, there was an additional 10% discount on top of that too!

So in conclusion, my pointy-toed shoes (RM69.90), my pretty slip-ons (RM65.90) and the groovy boots (RM159.00) cost all in all RM132.66!  Isn’t that just total awesomeness?

All I want are Shoes Shoes Shoes

I so NEED to go on a shoe shopping spree. I know what you’re thinking: how ironic…miss kaki shopping is crying out for shoes. My hubby will probably faint when he reads this, but I really have no shoes now! I’ll go do a major shoe-wardrobe spring cleaning this weekend and you’ll see why…

I need:

1. A pair of black pumps. I need one that’s closed-toe, with a sturdy heel that does not creak while I walk. The ones I have now are open-toed ones, so that’s why I need a covered pair that will go well with my pair of black leggings too. Saw a few at Hush Puppies the other day but I need to find time to check them out. I don’t like those with pointed heels as well, and I don’t like too high a heel either. So many conditions, that’s why it’s so difficult to land myself a pair.

2. A pair of knee-high black boots. I have been looking for these for the longest time, I tell ya. Nothing has caught my fancy. Either they were too expensive, too ugly, the heels were too high or they were in the wrong color. I have several dresses and outfits which I think would look splendid with boots. Now, tell me where I can find them!

3. A pair of sandals for walking around in. My Nike sandals are getting too old and outdated and I feel they are not too feminine for my taste either. I am relishing a pair of Ipanema sandals for lazing around, or for a better grip, a pair of Timberland sandals, which unfortunately though, cost at least RM300!

4. A pair of flats. Make that TWO or more pairs of flat shoes. Remember the NOSE ones I got previously? I am SO SO disappointed with them. Not only was the black one uncomfortable and cut into my heel, the material wore off after not even a week of me wearing them. The orange pair was comfy though, but when I accidentally ran my shopping cart over it, the fabric tore. See, now both of them are going straight into the dustbin. Note to self: never get anything for feet from a shop called NOSE.

So now I need to get some flats that I can wear to the office without people asking me, “Eh, wear slippers to office ah?”

5. A pair of pretty dinner shoes. I had a wedding dinner to attend last month and it was only then that I realized I had NO SHOES to go with my outfit. Luckily I had a versatile pair of black slingbacks that I could use. By the way, does anyone know how to keep the strap of a slingback from slipping down the heel? Mine keeps doing that, and it is so irritating to have to lift it up every now and then, short of cutting the whole darn strap off!

6. A pair of shoes to go well with jeans. I haven’t decided if it’s a pair of slip-ons or a pair of ankle-length boots, or both  But I need something to complement my jeans desperately.

Now, who knows where I can find all of the above? And anyone care to join me for my shoe shopping?

Ring on my toes!

I have reignited my love for accessories of late. Bangles, chunky earrings, bracelets….and today while I was surfing the net, I was reminded of my love for toe rings! I remember I bought several silver ones many years ago, and wore them almost every day. Funnily enough, I have no idea where these toe rings are now. I strongly believe that in addition to prettifying our fingers, our toes too need to be accorded that same amount of attention. Well, I just might go ahead and pamper those little toes of mine soon!

Plus, I know that if I sign up for the email newsletter at Jewels of Denial, I’ll get a 20% off coupon too. Isn’t that good enough a reason to get accessorizing?

Uniting all shopaholics!

I’m very easily tempted by pretty clothes…more so if those clothes are reasonably priced. But these days, sometimes it is rather difficult to shop for clothes properly while out shopping in the malls, what with a mega-active toddler keeping me on my toes the whole time.

Thus it was with glee that I discovered the Shopaholics Unite! website. How aptly named, I thought…Upon browsing through several blogposts, I couldn’t believe how affordably priced the apparel and accessories were! For example, the recent post raved about gladiator-styled sandals, which I think look really cool! In our hot and humid tropical weather, these sandals are the perfect solution for us girls who want to look cool, but cannot stand being in knee-high boots.

In fact, I would gladly buy myself a pair, if I didn’t have the phobia of “What if the shoe doesn’t fit?” But I would certainly love to stop by the Shopaholics Unite! shopping parties at Plaza Damas if I am ever within the vicinity. Anyone ever been there before?

Revlon Renewist Lip Color Giveaway!

I’m in need of a lipstick right now. More accurately, I am looking for something that can double up as a lipstick, lipgloss and yet provide me the moisture I need for my somewhat dry lips. After reading the review for the Revlon Renewist Lip Color, I think this is one lipstick I ought to check out, not so much for the lipstick in itself, but more so for the ProCollagen Moisture Core, which is touted to boost moisture by up to 80%. Sounds interesting enough.

Here’s a close-up shot of the core which I took from My Women Stuff:

However, I’m not gonna run out and buy myself one of these lipsticks just yet. Well, not until the results of this giveaway is announced anyway. My Women Stuff is having a giveaway for 1 Revlon Renewist Lip Colour lipstick (color: Naturally Revealing) and 1 Colorstay lip pencil. To see the exact shade of the Naturally Revealing color, please visit the Revlon site.

Quick, go check out the details and submit your entry by 12 noon on Thursday 22 May 2008.

Revlon Giveaway!

As I was flipping through my May 2008 copy of Malaysian Women’s Weekly, I saw the full page ad for the latest Revlon foundation: the Revlon Age-Defying 2-way Foundation with Botafirm.  This reminded me of the first ever giveaway that is currently happening at My Women Stuff.

I’m always game to try new products, and am ever ready to get free samples from cosmetics and perfume counters.  But what’s even better than getting free samples?  Why, free PRODUCTS in regular sizes, of course!

So I’m hoping to land myself the Revlon foundation prize.  The contest is so simple.  It’s a lucky draw where there will be only ONE winner who will walk away with a Revlon Age-Defying 2-way foundation in the shade 06 - Natural Beige!  All you need is to send an email to mwsgiveaways@gmail.com with “Revlon Foundation” in the subject header.  But hurry though…the contest ends 12 noon on 10 May 2008.
